Will has entered the building

Will and his mother had walked to the lab together from the hotel that they had rented in the very same town. Though he had told her time and time again that he was a big boy, old enough to do what so many kids nearly half his age did, his mother had insisted on coming with. She did, however, wait politely on the steps and allowed Will to go up to the door alone. For this, he was grateful (though others probably would have seen it intrusive all the same.)

The boy knocked on the door, then quickly reached into one of his jean pockets, pulled out a comb and stroked his hair a couple of times (though it was already perfect.) The comb disappeared just as quickly.

[Zero]

There was a rustle in the building before a someone finally answered the doors for Will. The woman seemed a bit distracted, and she carried a Pok?mon Egg in her right hand while the left was carefully placed on the knob. She seemed a bit surprised to find Will at her lab, but glad all the same and peered behind him to see his mother. Zero was curious, but she didn't ask about it.

"Welcome." She finally said, a few chestnut hair strands falling over he face. "This is the Togainu Pok?mon Lab- though I'm sure you knew that." Zero laughed lightly, "Er, I'm the Professor and my name is Zero. Hmm..." She held the Egg in both hands as she hummed thoughtfully, pondering. "A cute young man like yourself must be looking for a Pok?mon, yes? Care to come in?"

Cute? Will despised being short. But he couldn't stay mad for long. After all, this was the Professor. He had read all about her and the lab before coming. She was arguably, the youngest Professor he had ever researched.

Will followed her into the lab, his mother close behind now that she had let him do the honors of knocking.

"Excuse me," Will said, consciously trying to be polite, "But what kind of Pokémon is in that egg?" The boy knew all about Pokémon eggs from his extensive reading and documentary-watching. But this one was unfamiliar to him. No longer was he thinking about the Pokémon he was to recieve- Will had turned to obsessing over what could be within the shell.

"This isn't too dangerous, right?" his mother asked Zero, "I mean, it will be alright if he goes out on his own."

Will wished he could just disappear. How had his mother talked him into allowing her to accompany him into such a place? But Will knew why. He was willing to do anything just to get on his way now...he had been to eager and complied with her request (and coming from his mother, it was more of an order than a request anyways.) At least this would all change when he began training. Will had already made it perfectly clear that that was something he wished to do alone.

[Zero]

Zero dismissed Will's question for now as she tended to the mother's curiosity. She smiled sincerely and tried her best to be convincing, seeing as what she said normally sounded like lies.

"It's safe." Zero stated. "After all, cities are every so often, and Pokémon Centers help humans to a certain extent, as well. On Routes, the reason for a Pokémon is for other wild Pokémon, which is why we hand them out here at Pokémon Research Labs." Her weight shifted to one side as she continued, "A lot of regions have some rough terrain, but Togainu's main route to Elite Island it very tame. But there are other areas to explore, as well."

It was then that the young lab Professor remembered that the trainer-to-be himself had asked his own question, and he looked down at the Egg she was holding safely.

"This Egg? Honestly I'm not quite sure. I found it in the yard just this morning." Her foot tapped in a habited fashion and she turned just a little bit, "Erm, I'm sorry. Uh, which Pokémon did you want?"

"Other areas?" Will's mother asked, "Meaning dangerous other areas?" She had a slight Chinese accent, but her English was very good...apparently, she was used to interrogating people. She was incredibly short, shorter even than her son, so she had to stare up at the professor. Still, most people would be intimidated.

"Found it this morning," Will repeated, his mind spinning, trying to compare it to the other eggs he had seen. But nothing matched up. "Pok?mon?" Oh yes, right, that was why he was here. The boy had looked up the lab's offerings a week before, along with the Pok?mon who appeared on the early routes. He wanted an advantage while fighting, but soon realized that there were other things to take into account. "I'd like a Happiny if you have any of those right now." He'd need something to heal the group if he ever got far off track.

ooc|| Almost makes me want to bring Will's mother in as another character so she can stalk and annoy him the whole way. But that would be just mean.

[Zero]

Zero sighed, trying not to get agitated with Will's Mother's insistant worrying. But mothers were there for just that, she guessed.

"Sometimes... but one will have Pokémon to protect them, and no one is forcing them to go to these other areas anyway." She answered, going over to her computer desk and looking through some papers before opening a drawer.

"Happiny is a good choice." Zero smiled, "I thought all kinds of people would be different, so I should hand out different kinds of Pokémon as well." She took a small Poké Ball from the drawer and walked over to Will with it, handing the small capture device to him. "A healer, and still a decent Pokémon to battle with in terms of training or protecting. Good choice."

Will released the small Pok?mon from it's ball. It stared up at him happily.

The boy felt a sudden surge of excitement. This was it: he was finally going to begin the journey he had been preparing for for so long.

"Well," Will said, kneeling down so he was at the Pok?mon's eye level, "This is where it all begins." Then, he got up and returned the Happiny to its Pok?Ball.

His mother wasn't nearly as thrilled. "That thing is supposed to protect my baby from the wild?" she asked, horrified to say the least.

"Yes Ma, I love you too," Will said, waving before hurrying outside. He didn't want his mom to change her mind when he was just seconds away from freedom. "Bye Professor Zero." And then, he was gone.

His mom left a few moments later, mumbling something about dangerous practices and killing innocent children.
