"But mom, I'll promise I'll be careful. I'll make sure to keep taking my medication on time!" The conversation was still freshly printed into his mind, the conversation that he and his mother had over his desire to leave home, at least for a short while, to become a trainer. And while his father had agreed on the fact that the fresh air, and the small trips couldn't possibly make his condition any worse, his mother had not agreed, at all. She was ever worried, never trusting his judgement over her own. Of course, Narash understood that his mother was just worried for his health, but surely he was old and wise enough to take care of himself by now? He wasn't exactly foolish enough to get himself completely exhausted, knowing fully well that he would end up having breathing issues if he allowed that to happen. Besides, he would carry his medicines with him at all times, so what could possibly go wrong? Eventually, his father had managed to convince his mother that he was more than capable of taking of himself, and she had grudgingly allowed him to carry on with his idea, as long as he promised not to stay away for long, and to stay clear of danger. The last thing she wanted was for her son to have a fall-back. Still, there was still a long way to go before he would be able to finally venture further away from home, to learn more about the Pokémon in the Togainu region. His parents weren't about to let him just walk off to the other side of the world, so he would have to slowly build up the distance. But more important yet, he was going to need protection. First steps first, after all. Without a Pokémon of his own to protect him, the journey would be far too dangerous. Not to mention the fact that he'd get rather lonely and bored, eventually. Luckily enough, Narash had been living in Chorus City for long enough to know the location of the laboratory, and the Pokémon on the way there were mostly peaceful things, more interested in his crumbs of bread than attacking him. The trip had left him breathless however, having gone far faster than was good for him in his excitement. Knocking on the door to make certain somebody was around to help him, he clutched a hand to his chest, trying to calm his breathing. Or perhaps it was simply the adrenaline rushing through his body. Finally, he would be able to venture away from Chorus.

There was a rustle in the building before a someone finally answered the doors for Narash. The woman seemed a bit distracted, and she carried a Poké Ball in her right hand while the left was carefully placed on the knob. She seemed a bit surprised to find Narash at her lab, but glad all the same, even if he did seem a little out of breath and eager. Zero was curious, but she didn't ask about it.
"Welcome." She finally said, a few chestnut hair strands falling over he face. "This is the Togainu Pokémon Lab- though I'm sure you knew that." Zero laughed lightly, "Er, I'm the Professor and my name is Zero. Hmm..." She held the capture device in both hands as she hummed thoughtfully, pondering. "A cute young man like yourself must be looking for a Pokémon, yes? Care to come in?"

Narash's eyes slowly wandered up to be able to look Zero straight in the eyes, taking a small step back so that it would be a bit easier. It wasn't long before he saw the Pokéball in her hands, and he could feel the excitement welling up in his body again. Soon he would have one of those devices himself. Soon he would be able to go out with a Pokémon at his side, to explore the land.
He jumped back to reality from his short daydream however, when he realised that she was talking to him. A cute young man like yourself? Narash had never taken well to compliments, his cheeks flushing a shade of red. He nervously scratched his head, half trying to cover his face with his arm while doing so, eyes moving down to look at her feet. "Y...yes, I came for a...a Pokémon. M...my name's Narash. I...it's nice to meet you, professor Zero." He could barely manage the reply, the nerves making him stutter profoundly, so he just hurried inside, trying not to look at her.

"It makes me feel so professional when people call me that." Zero smiled, referring to the formalities of being titled as Professor. She giggled at Narash's reaction to her comment but said nothing about it, knowing he'd probably just grow even more embarrassed, and there was no need for that.
She swung her hands behind her back and stayed by the entrance, though she shut the door behind her. "Hmm... we are excited, aren't we? Well, which Pok?mon do you think you like?"

"I...I guess y...you could say, I'm a bit excited..." He laughed nervously, glancing around the laboratory, trying to take in as much information about it as he could. When he was still young, he had always wanted to become an aide to a professor, but that idea had since then made place for travelling around to become a trainer.
"O...oh... A...a Pokémon... Right..." The question had caught him completely off guard, and he wasn't entirely certain what to pick. He had very little experience with Pokémon, not really having seen many more kinds than the few that he encountered near his home, mostly just Pidgeys and Rattata. "I...I don't really...know a lot about Pokémon yet..." He admitted somewhat embarrased, glancing back up at Zero's face.
"A...any chance I could see, what you have?"

Zero chuckled, "Well, I don't want to bring them all out. Might be troublesome to have 24 Pok?mon running about, yeah? But, I'll tell you what I have, and anything you think sounds interesting I'll bring out for you, okay? The grass-types are Bulbasaur, Chikorita, Treeko, and Turtwig. For the fire-types I have Charmander, Cyndaquil, Torchic, and Chimchar. My water-types are Squirlt,e Totodile, Mudkip, and Piplup. Then my Normal-Type Pok?mon are Azurill, Happiny, Meowth, and Munchlax."
Zero listed them off one by one, though the list left her a little tired, so much listing! "Any one of them sound interesting to you..?

He was presented with a list that made his mind go dizzy. Twenty four different names were rapidly fired at his face, and not a single one of them sounded familiar so far. It wasn't until he heard the name 'Meowth' that he even managed to conjure up a vague image of any of the Pokémon.
But a Meowth, he knew what that was! There had been a pack of wild Meowth living near his old home, he remembered watching his father constantly complaining about their raids on the trash can outside. Yet in their new home, every so often his father wished the Meowths back, to take care of the Rattata plague in their backyard.
"I...I know what a Meowth is, I...I think. It...it's like a cat, isn't it?" He smiled slightly, already imagining what his father would say if he took a Meowth home. Keep it out of the trash cans son, and see if it can do something about the damned Rattata! Those things are multiplying faster than rabbits!
"Y...yes, I...I think I want a Meowth. W...would that be possible?"

Zero smiled once again, "Of course it is! And don't be so nervous- you stutter to much. Just relax, kay kid?" She then walked over to a desk with a computer on it and flipped through some paperwork before searching through several drawers. It was then she picked out a small minimized Pok? Ball, and handed it to Narash. "There you go, kid. Its all yours."
Recieved the Meowth!

Narash carefully took the small pokéball in his hands and cradled it as if it was an unborn child, his face turning a bright shade of red again. "I...I'm...not really a 'kid'. B...but... t...thanks a lot for the Pokémon! I...I bet, I'll become great friends with it."
He placed an ear against the ball, as if trying to hear the Pokémon inside. He still had a lot to learn about Pok?Balls and Pokémon in general, he most likely did not even know how to release the creature from its ball.
"T...thanks so much, professor Zero. I...If there is anything I can d..do in return, please tell me."

Zero thought, "Just take care of that Meowth, huh? Do that, and you can call on the Togainu Pok?mon Lab whenever you like." She said to him, fiddling with her own Pok? Ball which she had kept in her pocket and taken out then. "If you ever have any questions or get lost- ask around, or just look at the map with the items I gave you. People in Togainu are generally nice, if you talk to them they'll help you out no problem."

"A...alright. T...thank you. Thank you so much!" He sure seemed ever so thankful, perhaps slightly attributed to him seeing the Pokémon as a first step towards recovering from his illness slightly. With this little creature at his side, he would finally be able to see something of the world, other than the Pidgeys on the lawn in front of his home.
"I...I better get going, eh? T...there are so many things out there to see, a..and so many things left to do! I...I better hurry along. I...I mean, you must have a lot of things to do still!"
Oh boy, all this excitement can't have been good for him. He was far more active than he had been in ages, something that was most certainly going to make him cough later on. But for now, he felt euphoric.

"Well, not really." She laughed, referring to the work she had to get done, which was never going to be completed. Zero smiled, "Well, make sure you have fun~!" She waved to him goodbye, "Take care~!"

"T...thank you, a...and good luck with your work!" He gave a final glance back at Zero, before hurrying out of the laboratory so fast he nearly bumped into one of the professor's aides, having to dodge to the side as quickly as he could. He was far too excited for his own good, already coughing by the time he got to the door. But he simply couldn't wait to show his parents his new Pokémon.
Disappearing through the doors, he looked down at the Pokéball again, a smile resting on his face.
